My Ordinary Life, 2018–2024 · Ordinary Life, 2025–ongoing
The series began as My Ordinary Life, photographed at home and within walking distance of it: a curtain, a child’s back, tulips going over in a glass, the pond at the end of the garden. It was published under that title by Form Gallery, France, in 2024. Since then the possessive has gone. What had looked like a record of one household turned out to be a study of something that happens to anyone: the moment a familiar object stops agreeing with the memory of it. Malafeeva continues to return to the same things in different light and from different distances, and the series continues under the shorter name. The most reduced of these pictures — colour with almost nothing left of the object — are gathered under the title Chromatic Code.
